Motorcycle Basic Rider Course -  2 Day Course.  The best place to start once you've made the decision to ride.  It covers the basics of operating a motorcycle and safety-oriented mental strategies.  Motorcycles, helmets, and gloves are provided for your use.  Upon successful completion of this course.  You will receive a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Card.  This card will be good for 1 year from date of issue.  FREE ONLINE TRAINING MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ATTENDING THE COURSE. UNIFORM:  (Helmet, Gloves, and Motorcycles are provided)

CLOTHING - Jeans or motorcycle riding pants may be worn (Duty Uniform is acceptable).  Do not wear pants with holes, rips or tears.  Must wear a long sleeve shirt or jacket (No short sleeves).

FOOTWEAR - Sturdy leather over the ankle or your military boots may be worn.

*If you choose to bring your own helmet and gloves to the Basic Course (READ BELOW).

HELMETS - Must be DOT Approved with eye protection.

GLOVES - Must be full fingered.

 

Advanced Rider Course (ARC) - (THIS COURSE IS FOR ALL BIKES) - 1 Day Course.  You must have a valid Motorcycle Endorsement or Motorcycle Learner Permit and previous MSF Card, Registration, and Proof of Insurance.  If you are riding a friend's motorcycle.  You MUST HAVE written consent from that person allowing you to use the motorcycle.  The rider MUST provide a motorcycle and wear the appropriate protective equipment, per AR 385-10.  This card will be good for 5 years from date of issue.

UNIFORM: (Rider will use their own equipment)

Remedial Driver Training (RTD) - 1 Day Course.  It is provided to all Active Duty Military and DoD Civilians – who while operating a Government Motor Vehicle, have been convicted of a moving traffic violation, or have been determined to be at fault in a traffic accident.  OR – Command Referred due to high risk driving activity.

Command Referral Examples:

(a) The accumulation of 5 or more traffic points over a 12 month period.

(b)  Warning traffic citations for moving and nonmoving infractions.

(c)  Letters of Counseling or Reprimand for driving. 

 

Intermediate Driver Training Course - 26 and Below (IDT) - Two and a half-hour course.  One time Army requirement, for Soldiers 25 years of age and under.  Course reinforces the Initial Traffic Safety Training Course given in AIT.  Course is normally given to newly assigned Soldiers during In-Processing.  Not required for a military license.

THIS IS NOT REMEDIAL DRIVERS TRAINING.  IT WILL NOT SATISFY ANY LEGAL COURT REQUIREMENTS.
