Joint Base Lewis-McChord Child & Youth Services programs are designed to foster and develop children's physical, intellectual and socio-emotional capabilities. The goal of the quality child and youth development options is to reduce the conflict between parental responsibilities and unit mission requirements. All services are available to service members and family members at JBLM.
Joint Base Lewis-McChord Family and MWR offers a variety of sports and recreation programs and facilities. Five-star fitness and sports centers make military members and their families truly "fit for freedom" and for life. Fitness classes, cardio workout rooms, pools, saunas, courts and intramural sports are free for eligible members.
Family and MWR offers a variety of dining options on JBLM to include Habaneros Mexican Grill, McChord Grill, the Strike Zone snack bars in the bowling alleys, two Samuel Adams Brewhouses and Battle Bean Coffees (McChord Field and Stone Eduction Center. Family and MWR operates the American Lake Conference Center and the McChord Club, which can be rented out for military events, weddings, birthday parties and more.
Family and MWR operates two golf courses: Whispering Firs and Eagles Pride. Eagles Pride is a 27-hole golf course and is open to the public right off of the freeway.
The JBLM Arts & Crafts Center on McChord Field has something for everyone and offers classes in crochet, quilting, art, framing and many more. The center also offers engraving, embroidery and debossing.
Better Opportunities for Single Service Members is a program that supports the overall quality of single service members’ lives. BOSS identifies well-being issues and concerns by recommending improvements through the chain-of-command. BOSS also encourages and assists single service members in identifying and planning for recreational and leisure activities. Additionally, it gives single service members the opportunity to participate in and contribute to their respective communities.
