FRONTIER ARMY MUSEUM TOUR
BUFFALO SOLDIER COMMEMORATIVE AREA
The American West has fascinated people all over the world since settlers first crossed the Mississippi. However, unless it includes the contributions of the Buffalo Soldiers, any story told about “How the West was Won” is incomplete. The Great American Frontier and Buffalo Soldier country were one and the same. View the Buffalo Soldier information sheet.
The Buffalo Soldier Monument was dedicated on July 25, 1992 by General Colin L. Powell, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who was the first African-American to serve in that capacity.
