We are the best trained Unit Ministry Teams living up to the highest standards of our Chaplain Corps legacy, intentionally being at the right place at the right time with something eternal to offer those in normal life experiences and during their most challenging life circumstances.
Command Chaplain Vision
Ensure Title 10 religious support of all faith groups for the Soldiers, Family members, and authorized Civilians throughout the Fort Johnson areas of operations and responsibility. Oversee a collaborative effort among the garrison and mission UMTs to achieve first class and outstanding religious support activities for the Post Community. Coach, mentor, train and partner with all UMTs to ensure each UMT is fully resourced and professionally equipped to meet the various faith based needs to make all personnel Fort Johnson Strong.

Chaplain (COL) Michael Jeffries grew up in Columbus, GA. He is a graduate of Shaw High School in 1986 and Columbus State University in 1991. He left Columbus, GA, for Fort Worth, TX, to attend seminary at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1992. He graduated seminary in 1996 with a Master of Divinity.
While in seminary CH Jeffries joined the Army Reserves as a Chaplain Candidate and attended Chaplain Officer Basic Course at Fort Monmouth, NJ, in the summer of 1993. He served two summers at Fort Sam Houston with Brooke Army Medical Center as a Chaplain Candidate. He remained in the Inactive Ready Reserves until coming on active duty in July 2000. Upon graduation from seminary in May 1996, CH Jeffries served as Pastor of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Florence, SC, from 1996 – 2000.
In July 2000 CH Jeffries came on active duty and served at Fort Jackson, SC, he went on to serve in Bamberg, Germany, and Fort Benning, GA. He was selected to attend the Family Life Training Center at Fort Benning and earned a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Columbus State University. CH Jeffries went on to serve at Fort Bliss, TX, Fort Jackson, SC, Fort Detrick, MD, Fort Hood, TX, Fort Leavenworth, KS and currently at Fort Johnson, LA.
CH Jeffries has been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. He has served 30 months deployed.
He has been married to his wife for 28 years and they have two adult children
