Military pay operations change in capital region

On Oct. 1, all Defense Military Pay Offices were renamed the Army Military Pay Office. Offices after the military pay office mission transferred from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service to the Army Financial Management Command.

The Army Military Pay Office operations have not changed, but its functions and employees are transferred to the Army. The office is still maintaining daily business operations, but due to COVID-19, the office is teleworking and handling all inquiries and processing of pay supporting documents via our digital mailboxes. Please continue to send pay inquiries to the unit S-1.

All S-1s are assisting Soldiers with finance inprocessing via smart voucher at https://www.dfas.mil/MilitaryMembers/travelpay/smartvoucher/ and all other documents will be sent to the AMPO for processing. The DFAS websites will not be changing, so individuals can still use www.dfas.mil for DFAS related pay information (travel, pay charts, military pay etc.).

When using smart voucher for an individual’s finance inprocessing, be sure to select Fort Belvoir AMPO. This applies to organizations assigned to Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall and the Pentagon as well. Choosing the Fort Belvoir AMPO will automatically route an individual’s travel settlement to the Fort Belvoir AMPO for review and signature in block 20d of the DD form 1351-2 and then forward the claim to the DFAS Rome Travel Office for payment. The smart voucher system will also allow an individual to upload and attach his or her orders, DA Form 31 and any other documents to his or her claim.

At that same time that the AMPO reviews a person’s travel settlement, he or she will retain an electronic copy of his or her voucher for in order to update his or her basic allowance for housing duty Zip Code and “arrive” his or her pay account.

After an individual has submitted his or her MIL PCS Travel Voucher, he or she may check the status online using www.dfas.mil/militarymembers/travelpay/checkvoucherstatus.html.

Currently the AMPO is asking for all Soldier pay inquiries to come through their unit administrators or battalion/brigade S-1s, who will forward them to the AMPO using the digital/shared email boxes.

The AMPO operations are still open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Fort Belvoir location. The JB-MHH office is temporarily closed.
