The Army Volunteers Corps (AVC) is a way to get involved with the local community, make a difference, learn new skills, build experience, or meet new people.
The AVC is a new way of thinking about volunteers and volunteering within the Army. It is an umbrella that encompasses all volunteers and organizations using volunteers. No matter where individuals volunteer in the Army community, they have the same goal. People volunteer to contribute to the Army, to Soldiers, and to their family members. The intent of the AVC is to recognize this commonality of purpose among all Army volunteers and to instill the same pride in being an Army volunteer as they now have for the organization where they provide their service. The establishment of the Army Volunteer Corps connects volunteers and demonstrates the Army's commitment to its volunteers.

How do I volunteer?
The Volunteer Management Information System (VMIS) is the Army’s online volunteer management tool located at vmis.armyfamilywebportal.com. The system provides a standardized system across the Army for volunteers to document their service history. It also allows for reporting of volunteer activity and statistics at the installation, region, and Department of Army levels. The system will allow you to document your entire volunteer history as you move from installation to installation. Per Army Regulation 608-1, all installation volunteers are required to register in this system and document hours by day each month.  Each organization has an Organization Point of Contact (OPOC), who manages the volunteers and hours within the system.  If you don’t know who your OPOC is, contact the AVCC at DSN: 646-5833, CIV: 0444-71-5833 or DSN: 634- 5800, CIV: 0444-71-5800.
