Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Jason E. Decker is a native of Iron Mountain, Michigan.  He enlisted in the National Guard on 16 December 1996 as a 31U Commo Technician.  While attending College at Northwestern Technical College in Green Bay, WI, he enlisted in the Army as a 63B Light Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic 23 February 2000.

 

CSM Decker has served in numerous leadership postions including:  Senior Mechanic, Maintenance Control Sergeant, BN S4 Supply NCOIC, First Sergeant, Senior NCO Maintenance Advisor, and Command Sergeant Major.

 

CSM Decker’s assignments include:  224 Military Intelligence Ballation, HAAF, GA;  305th Quartermaster Company, Yong San, South Korea;  5-7th Air Defense Artillery Patriot, Grossauheim, Hanau Germany;  1/1 Infantry Border Transition Team (Class 11), Fort Riley, Kansas;  101st Brigade Support Battalion (2-34 AR) Forward Support Company, Fort Riley, Kansas;  Program Executive Office Ground Combat Systems, Warren, Michigan;  USASMA SMC Student (Class 66), Fort Bliss Texas, and 3/4 Armored Brigade Combat Team, 64th Brigade Support Battalion, Fort Carson, Colorado.  CSM Decker has deployed to Israel, Greece, Iraq, Afghanistan, Poland, and Kuwait for combat and peacekeeping operations.

 

CSM Decker’s military education includes all levels of Noncommissioned Officer Education system and cap-stoning with attendance at the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 66).  CSM Decker is also a gradute of the following courses:  Light Wheeled Vehicle Mechanics, Manager Development, Supervisor’s Development, Combatives Level 1, Military Transition Team, First Sergeant’s course, Battalion and Brigade Pre-command course, Master Resilience Trainer, and Fundamental of System Acquisition Management.

 

CSM Decker’s awards and decorations include:  Bronze Star (2nd award), Meritorious Service medal (3rd award), Army Achievement medal (4th award), Valorous Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct medal (6th award), National Defense Service medal, Afghanistan Campaign medal-Campaign Star (2nd award), Iraq Campaign medal-Campaign Star, Global War in Terrorism Expeditionary medal, Global War in Terrorism Service medal, Korean Defense Service medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development ribbon (5rd award), Army Service ribbon, Overseas Service ribbon (3rd award), NATO Medal, Combat Action badge, and the Driver and Mechanic badge.

 

CSM Decker currently resides with his wife, Catharine, and daughters, Kaitlynn (18), and Madison (12), in Fort Irwin, CA.
