CSM Julio T. Santos is a native of Northern Virginia. He entered service with the U.S. Army on September 27th, 1997. Upon graduation from Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, he was awarded the Military Occupational Specialty of 15U, CH-47 Medium Helicopter Repairer.

CSM Santos’ assignments include C Company 159th Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; F Company 159th Giebelstadt, Germany; B Company 3/160th SOAR (A), A Company 3/160th SOAR (A) at Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah Georgia where he spent nearly half his career serving in Special Operations Aviation. Positions involved MH-47 Flight Engineer, Flight Standardization Instructor and Flight Platoon Sergeant. Follow on assignments included C Company 2/25th First Sergeant, D Company 2/25th First Sergeant out of Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii; HHC Brigade First Sergeant with the 16th Combat Aviation Brigade at Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA; G3 SGM at the National Training Center, Ft Irwin, CA; and is currently serving as the CSM of the 2916th Aviation Battalion, Ft Irwin, CA.

CSM Santos completed all NCO Professional Development courses, the 160th SOAR (A) Enlisted Green Platoon Course, Survival/Evasion/Resistance/Escape (SERE) Level C, Combative level II Course, Dynamics of International Terrorism Course, Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, 160th SOAR (A) Flight Engineer Instructor Course, Air Deployment Planning Course, Aviation Accident Prevention Course, the Master Resiliency Trainer Level I Course, and the First Sergeants Course. CSM Santos is an Alumni of Class 68 United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (USASMA). He also graduated Summa Cum Laude from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Aeronautics.

His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Air Medal With Valorous award (w/ numeral 6), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Presidential Unit Citation, Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation (1 OLC), Good Conduct Medal (6th award), National Defense Service medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Kosovo Campaign medal (w/ bronze star), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (w/ silver star), Iraq Campaign Medal (w/ 3 bronze stars), Global War on Terror and Expeditionary Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (w/ numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (w/ numeral 3), NATO Medal (w/ bronze star), Combat Action Badge, Master Aircraft Crewmember Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.

CSM Santos and his wife, Jenny, have two daughters and two sons.
