Col. Jarrod P. Moreland
Colonel (COL) Jarrod P. Moreland received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science (International Relations) and commission in the U.S. Army from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1997. After attendance at the MI Officer Basic Course (MIOBC), COL Moreland was assigned to the 297th MI Battalion at Fort Gordon, Georgia, where he served as a Collections Officer, Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer (XO) and deployed to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, for six months to serve as the Deputy J2 of the U.S. Support Group-Haiti.
After graduating from the MI Captain’s Career Course, CAS3 and MI Counterintelligence Officer’s Course, COL Moreland remained at Fort Huachuca, Arizona where he spent 19 months as the Company Commander of Charlie Company, 304th MI Battalion, conducting MI Lieutenant and Warrant Officer training. COL Moreland also served for a year as the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and Fort Huachuca (USAIC&FH) Secretary of the General Staff (SGS).
COL Moreland then served as the Executive Officer (XO) and Recruiting Operations Officer (ROO) of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) Army ROTC “49er Battalion.” While in Charlotte, COL Moreland earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from UNCC’s Belk College of Business. Following that assignment, he deployed to Basrah, Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM as part of a Border Transition Team (BTT) training the Iraqi 4th Region Department of Border Enforcement (DBE) along the Iraq/Kuwait and Iraq/Iran borders.
After completion of ILE at Fort Leavenworth in 2010, COL Moreland was assigned to USCENTCOM HQs, where he served as the XO for two CENTCOM Directors of Intelligence (J2s). He then deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM to serve as the Aide de Camp for the ISAF/USFOR-A Commander. Upon return from this deployment, he served as the USCENTCOM Deputy Command Counterintelligence Coordinating Authority (CCICA) until his departure from Tampa in May 2015.
From June 2015-June 2017, COL Moreland served as the Battalion Commander of the 202nd MI Battalion, 513th MI Brigade, at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Following command, he served until June 2018 in the Pentagon as the Department of the Army, G-2, Current Operations Team Chief, and in June 2019 he graduated from Senior Service College (SSC) at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. COL Moreland most recently served as the Director, Army Capability Manager - Foundation (ACM-F) at Fort Huachuca, AZ, prior to becoming Fort Huachuca's Garrison Commander.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award (4 OLC), the Army Staff Identification Badge (ASIB), the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB) in Gold, and the Army MI Corps’ Knowlton Award. He is also a graduate of Air Assault School and was a member of the 1998 All-Army Soccer Team.
COL Moreland is a native of Columbia, MD. He and his wife, Melissa, have two daughters.
