Fort Drum residents, service members, Families
invited to participate in Firefighter for a Day

FORT DRUM, N.Y. (Oct. 1, 2019) – In support of National Fire Prevention Week, Mountain Community Homes will team up with the Fort Drum Fire Department to give service members and their Families an opportunity to test their fire safety skills during the annual Firefighter for a Day event Oct. 9. Held at Fire Station 2, the event will provide a night filled with fun, food, and – most importantly – education.

In conjunction with the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), one hour of the event will be open exclusively for children with special needs.

Free to all residents, service members and Families of Fort Drum, events will include opportunities to take a guided tour of the fire house, sit on a firetruck, experience a fire extinguisher simulator, try on firefighter gear, meet Big Al, and enjoy a fire hose game, bounce house, and giveaways.

Firefighter for a Day will be open from 4 to 5 p.m. Oct. 9 for children with special needs and from 5 to 7 p.m. for the Fort Drum community. All events will take place at Fire Station 2, Bldg. 1585, Ontario Avenue (Gasoline Alley).
