2020 Summer Reading.jpg

Summer Reading Program encourages individuals
to ‘Dig Deeper: Read, Investigate, Discover!’

Summer has officially arrived, and that means it's time for the Summer Reading Program! This year’s Summer Reading Program will take place through Sept. 5 at a library near you.

Summer Reading 2020 at Department of Defense – Morale, Welfare and Recreation libraries will center on a theme of investigation and exploration: Dig Deeper: Read, Investigate, Discover!

This theme encourages readers of all ages to dig below the surface and discover everything from the science of everyday things, to the envisioning of the future, discovering other cultures, peering into nature and the environment, delving into the unknown and exploring a treasury of knowledge.

In partnership with iREAD Summer Reading, programs at Robert C. McEwen Library will include activities, graphics, crafts, reading lists, incentives, and much more for children, teens, and adults.

The benefits of summer reading are clear. National research finds that students who participate in library summer reading programs scored higher on reading achievement tests at the beginning of the next school year than those who did not participate.

The mission at DoD-MWR Libraries is to provide the resources and experiences to bridge this summer gap, while inspiring literacy and lifelong learning.

For additional details, contact the Robert C. McEwen Library staff at (315) 772-6005 / 9099.
