Lieutenant General Horace G. "Pete" Taylor Leadership Award

The Lieutenant General Pete Taylor Leadership Award is established to honor the exceptional leadership legacy of Lieutenant General Taylor, whose distinguished service and commitment to excellence at Fort Cavazos set a standard for generations of officers to follow. This prestigious award recognizes an outstanding company, battery, or troop commander who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership, personal integrity, and an unwavering dedication to mission success and a deep passion for Soldiers and their families within the Fort Cavazos community. The recognized commander is a leader who has taken steps to strengthen the relationship between their unit and surrounding community. 

Award Criteria:

The Lieutenant General Horace G. "Pete" Taylor Leadership Award is presented annually to a junior officer who embodies the core values and leadership principles with LTG Taylor championed throughout his career.  The recipient of this award exemplifies the highest standards of military leadership, inspiring others through selfless service, resilience, and innovation in their duties.  Nominees must demonstrate:

• Exceptional Leadership:  A track record of effective leadership that fosters teamwork, morale, and a culture of accountability.  The nominee should have inspired others to achieve excellence through personal example and effective decision-making.
• Commitment to Excellence: A strong dedication to professional development and mission accomplishment. The nominee should have demonstrated innovative solutions, resourcefulness, and the ability to adapt to complex and dynamic environments.
• Integrity and Character: A commitment to upholding the Army's values, ethical conduct, and personal accountability. The nominee is someone who leads with honesty, courage, and respect for others, earning the trust and confidence of their subordinates and peers alike.
• Impact on the Fort Cavazos community: The award recognizes officers who have had a meaningful and lasting impact on the Fort Cavazos community, contributing to the development of their peers and fostering a positive, high-performing environment within their units.
