BATTALION HISTORY

The 62d Expeditionary Signal Battalion – Enhanced was constituted 1 October 1933 in the Regular Army as the 62d Signal Battalion. On 13 October 1939 it was activated at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. On 25 September 1949, the battalion was redesignated as the 62d Signal Battalion, Corps. On 26 June 1950, the battalion was inactivated in Japan. On 1 March 1963 it was redesignated as the 62d Signal Battalion. On 26 March 1963, the battalion was activated at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 62d Signal Battalion, was converted and redesignated on 25 April 1966 as Headquarters and Main Support Company, 62d Maintenance Battalion. The Battalion inactivated on 4 October 1972 at Oakland Army Base, California. The unit was converted and redesignated on 1 January 1998 as the 62d Signal Battalion. On 17 October 2009, the battalion was activated at Fort Hood, TX as the 62d Expeditionary Signal Battalion. On 17 March 2024, the battalion modernized and was redesignated as the 62d Expeditionary Signal Battalion – Enhanced. The battalion serves as a subordinate unit to the 11th Corps Signal Brigade and is stationed at Fort Cavazos, Texas.
