ARMY FISHER HOUSE 

The Fort Cavazos Army Fisher House provides temporary lodging for families of active duty, military retirees and veterans undergoing treatment at medical facilities in the area.

BETTER OPPORTUNITIES FOR SINGLE SOLDIERS (BOSS) ⚠

Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers is a dynamic Department of the Army program that single Soldiers can participate in to enhance their quality of life, contribute to their community through community service activities and assist in the planning and execution of their own recreation and leisure events. 

The BOSS program focuses on the Department of the Army active duty single Soldier, but BOSS activities are open to all MWR patrons to include the National Guard, Army Reserve, other branches of service, Department of Defense civilians, foreign service members and geographical bachelors.

CARL R. DARNALL ARMY MEDICAL CENTER ⚠​​​​​​ ​

The Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center opened in 2016, offering the Fort Cavazos community state of the art facilities. Recognized by Military Health System, as a leader in delivering virtual care, CRDAMC has positioned itself as an innovative health care delivery platform using multiple technology applications to expand virtual health care for beneficiaries. Seven clinics are located on installation and four clinics are located in the local communities of Copperas Cove, Harker Heights, and Killeen. CRDAMC also provides specialty, emergency and inpatient health services to active duty service members, family members and retirees.

CHILD & YOUTH SERVICES 

Located on the first floor of the Shoemaker Center, Building 36000, Child and Youth Services provides programs and services for children of eligible military and civilian families. We offer various forms of child care as well as before and after school care. Civilian Personnel Advisory Center

The Civilian Personnel Advisory Center is located at Bldg. 4820 Washington St. in Kouma Village. Our team of human resources professionals are dedicated to supporting transitioning service members, civilian employees, military spouses and veterans with federal employment opportunities. 

Commissary ⚠

The Defense Commissary Agency operates a worldwide chain of commissaries providing groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families in a safe and secure shopping environment. Authorized patrons purchase items that are variably priced plus a 5-percent surcharge, which covers the costs of building new commissaries and modernizing existing ones. Shoppers save thousands of dollars annually on their purchases compared to commercial prices when shopping regularly at a commissary. A core military family support element, and a valued part of military pay and benefits, commissaries contribute to family readiness, enhance the quality of life for America's military and their families and help recruit and retain the best and brightest men and women to serve their country.

CONSOLIDATED CLIENT SERVICES OFFICE 

The III Armored Corps and Fort Cavazos Consolidated Client Services Office offer advice and assistance on legal matters, which include but are not limited to, military administrative actions (Investigations/GOMoR/FLIPL Rebuttals), domestic relations, nonsupport, landlord/tenant disputes, consumer protection and immigration. They also provide assistance in preparing and notarizing documents like powers of attorney and wills. It is advisable to schedule an appointment for reviewing all leases, agreements, contracts, etc., with Client Services before signing them.

We have eight dining facilities (five on main cantonment, one on West Fort Cavazos and two on North Fort Cavazos), two food trucks and one kiosk located at Black Jack Dining Facility to serve you. EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES

Army education centers offer a wide variety of programs (certificates, Associate’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees) through U.S. vocational-technical schools, colleges and universities. Professional education counselors assist Soldiers in developing and completing education goals and educational plans in a cost-effective, timely manner..

Fort Cavazos hosts a campus for Central Texas College, allowing Soldiers to attend classes without leaving post.  Additionally, the surrounding area is home to Texas A&M - Central Texas, Baylor University, the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, Southwestern University, Temple College and many more, offering educational opportunities Soldiers won't want to miss.

Employee Assistance Program

Fort Cavazos' Employee Assistance Program is one of the components of the Army Substance Abuse Program. However, the EAP assists employees, family members and family members of active duty military to resolve all types of “problems in living.”

FOOD HANDLER CERTIFICATION COURSE

Environmental Health provides food handler training to personnel desiring to serve food to the public on the installation. The online training is accessible throughout the year by following the linked instructions above.

FORT CAVAZOS FAMILY AND MWR 

Fort Cavazos offers a variety of places to eat and things to do.  The Lone Star Conference Center and the Samuel Adams Brewhouse are great for dining and entertainment, and if you want a taste of outside the gate without actually going there, we have a full-service Chili's restaurant on post, as well as Burger King, Popeye's Chicken, Domino's Pizza, and more. 

If action is what you crave, enjoy one of Fort Cavazos Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation's adventure programs.  Go fishing on or biking around Belton Lake.  Play nine holes at the Courses of Clear Creek.  And if it's off-post action you're after, the Killeen, Harker Heights, Belton, Temple and Copperas Cove communities that surround Fort Cavazos always have something to offer.  On the weekend, take a trip to Austin and explore the live music capital of America.  There's always something to do in Central Texas!

Freedom of Information Act

The Freedom of Information Act generally provides that any person has a right, enforceable in court, to obtain access to federal agency records, except to the extent that such records (or portions of them) are protected from disclosure by one of nine exemptions or by one of three special law enforcement record exclusions.

Gate Information

Non-DoD persons with a valid reason for entering the installation can conveniently obtain an installation pass by stopping at the Marvin Leath Visitors Welcome Center.  The center also offers great services like vehicle registration and driver’s license renewal.

Inspector General

The III Armored Corps Inspector General serves as an extension of the commanding general by providing him with an independent and impartial assessment of the readiness, morale, welfare and discipline of the command and report on other matters that impact upon the economy and/or efficiency of the command.

Military Personnel Services Division

The Military Personnel Services Division is involved in all of the activities of sustaining the human dimension needs of Soldiers, retirees, veterans and their families. Some of these activities include Soldier Readiness Processing and Central In/Out-processing, casualty affairs, separations, ID Card and DEERS services, retirement services and the full spectrum of military personnel office services.

Newcomers Information and orientation

Learn about Fort Cavazos and all the services we offer here, including about the weekly installation orientation that is available to newly arrived Soldiers and their family members. This  free event takes place every Thursday; the doors open at 8:45 a.m., with the event beginning at 9 a.m. at the Lone Star Conference Center. Those who attend will hear from the commanding general, the Garrison commander and agency representatives. Free childcare is available on-site, and a free boxed lunch is provided to those who attend.

The Religious Support Office serves Soldiers and families at 13 chapels located across post that meet your spiritual needs. Whatever your religious background, you can grow and flourish during your assignment here in the heart of America. The RSO also offers local food resources and can hold special events.

Retirement Services Office

The Retirement Services Program is designed to assist Soldiers and their Families in their transition to retirement and to keep them updated on their benefits and entitlements after retirement. This includes active duty, retirees, spouses, dependents, widows, widowers, former spouses, and veterans. A primary element of retirement services is proper and timely counseling on the career status bonus, Survivor Benefit Plan and Reserve Component SBP.

Safety Office

Instill policies and procedures for a comprehensive Garrison Safety Program. Provide technical advice to the Garrison commander and staff on integration of safety and risk management into all missions and functions within the command.

SCHOOLS

Fort Cavazos offers many school options for military children. The ON-POST SCHOOL LOCATOR ⚠ identifies which school your child(ren) will attend. 

Finding a new school and registering your child can be confusing. The Fort Cavazos School Liaison Officers are here to guide you through the process and help you find the best fit for you and your family.  They can also help you with everything you need to register assist with transitioning schools, and answer education related questions.

SOLDIER AND FAMILY ASSISTANCE CENTER ⚠

Located on 62nd Street near the hospital, the Soldier and Family Assistance Center is a one-stop location built to equip and aid wounded, ill and injured Soldiers who are assigned or attached to Warrior Transition Units. SFAC services help these Soldiers make life-changing decisions as they transition back to duty or on to civilian life. 

Sportsmen's Center ⚠​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​​

Your Sportsmen's Center supports your skeet and trap shooting and archery needs, as well as a pro shop to support hunting and fishing equipment.  We also allow the dining room and meeting room to be rented out after hours for unit functions, groups and clubs. The outdoor shelter area and pavilion behind Sportmen's Center next to the Archery range has picnic tables, grills and a volleyball court. Don't forget to target your hunger with the Sportsmen's Center Grill for all your home-style breakfast and lunch items.

Things to do 

There are a variety of activities available on Fort Cavazos and in the surrounding area. There are the natural wonders of the Hill Country and nearby lakes, indoor and outdoor recreation activities, hunting, fishing, boating, sports, cultural and historic activities available. In addition to all that, you can also get involved in organizations like the Fort Cavazos Spouses Club, the Fort Cavazos Thrift Shop, the Fort Cavazos Scholarship Fund or Operation Deploy Your Dress. No matter what your interests, there is something available nearby!

TOTAL ARMY SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM 

The Total Army Sponsorship Program mission is to help Soldiers and their families better integrate into the U.S. Army, and to assist them when they transition to different units. Sponsorship applies to all active component Soldiers in ranks E-1 through O-6.  TASP ensures incoming Soldiers are assigned sponsors prior to reporting to their next duty station. Obtaining a sponsor reduces the stress of reporting to a new unit, enhances resiliency and improves readiness among Soldiers and family members.

Transition Assistance Program

We provide transition and employment assistance to Soldiers and their adult family members who are transitioning from active duty.

Transportation Office

The Transportation Office manages / provides the following services: Personal Property Processing Office, Official Travel (Port-Call) and service member passport and visa requests, Government vehicles and freight movement.

Victim Advocacy Program ⚠​​​​​​  

The Family Advocacy Victim Advocate Program is a specialized function within FAP providing comprehensive assistance and liaison to and for victims of spouse abuse and sexual assault.
 

Veterinary Center ⚠​​​​​​​

The Fort Cavazos Veterinary Center is excited to assist you with your beloved dogs and cats. We specialize in preventive medicine (vaccines, routine testing and preventive medications) and routine out-patient procedures (spays, neuters, dental procedures and mass removals). Our goal is to provide you with superior care and a positive experience at each visit.
 

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM ⚠​​​ ​​ ​ 

We are home to the center of volunteer recruitment, referral, recognition and advocacy efforts for Fort Cavazos. Volunteers are recruited for a wide variety of positions throughout the on and off-post communities. Individuals wishing to benefit from volunteer service may register their resumes and more. Organizations wishing to benefit from volunteer service may register their volunteer job descriptions with the Volunteer Center, whose staff will work to fill the positions with the right volunteers. 

WEAPONS REGISTRATION
