The Fort Cavazos Clean Water Team is comprised of six personnel with a broad spectrum of responsibilities in support of the Clean Water Act.
  • Managing the requirements of the discharge authorization permits issued to Fort Cavazos under the Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, which includes: 
    • TXR04000 - Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) - Municipal Stormwater
    •  TXR15000 – Construction General Permit - Construction Stormwater)
    • TXR05000 - Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) - Industrial Stormwater
    • WQ0002233000 - Fort Cavazos Vehicle Wash Facility - Industrial Wastewater
  • Managing the requirements of the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC) plan and the Installation Response Plan (IRP), to include:
    • Managing, inspecting, and maintaining over 500 Petroleum Storage Tanks (PSTs) across the installation.
    • Conducting Petroleum, Oils, and Lubricants (POL) spill response to assist Fort Cavazos organizations with spill containment and clean-up.

Storm Water Pollution

Why does it matter to you, our Soldiers, and the Fort Cavazos community?
The Fort Cavazos MS4 transports storm water through a system of pipes, ditches, and tributaries to local lakes, which provide drinking water, wildlife habitats, training opportunities, and recreation for the community.  Unfortunately, the MS4 also transports EVERYTHING that it picks up along the way, such as trash, debris, yard and pet waste, pesticides and herbicides, food waste, loose sediment or gravel, and petroleum or chemical spills. The trash and debris carried by storm water contaminates our surface waters and can also build up in the storm drains, resulting in infrastructure damage, flooding, and erosion, and create roadway hazards.
