National Environmental Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) are set in place by Section 112(c) of the Clean Air Act of 1990 and are outlined in categories of major and area sources of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP). Fort Cavazos had been considered as a major source for quite a few years, but due to upgrades to our stationary source hardware and procuring/using products with lower HAPs, we are now an area source.
Below are the primary sources with NESHAP rules that are on Fort Cavazos:
- Aerospace
- Asbestos
- Boilers
- Stationary Engines (RICE)
- Engine Test Cells
- Fuel Dispensing Facilities
- Municipal Solid Waste Landfills
- Woodworking / Surface Coating
