Command Sgt. Major Loyd Rhoades
Command Sergeant Major Loyd A. Rhoades entered the United States Army on 12 April 1999. He graduated Basic Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he earned the military occupation specialty 13F, Fire Support Specialist.
Rhoades has served and led in every critical leadership capacity from Forward Observer to Brigade Command Sergeant Major. His subsequent duty assignments include Fort Carson, Colorado, Scholfield Barracks, Hawaii, Fort Riley, Kansas, Fort Irwin, California, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Fort Drum, New York, and Fort Wainwright, Alaska. CSM Rhoades most recently served as the Brigade Command Sergeant Major for the 1st Cavalry Division Artillery at Fort Cavazos, Texas.
His combat and overseas operational tours include Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Inherent Resolve, and Operation European Assure Deter Reenforce. CSM Rhoades is a graduate of all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development System through the Sergeants Major Course- Class 68, Joint Firepower Course, Tactical Information Operations, Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officers Course, Air Assault Course, Pathfinder Course, and Master Resiliency Trainer Course. His civilian education includes an associate’s degree in general studies.
His notable awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (one oak leaf cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (four oak leaf clusters), and the Army Commendation Medal (four oak leaf clusters). Combat Action Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. He is also a recipient of the Order of St. Barbara’s Award and is a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
