Command Sergeant Major John E. Eastwood grew up as a military child and calls East Providence, Rhode Island, home. He entered the United States Army Rhode Island National Guard in August 1990. Once graduating from high School, he attended Military Police One Station Unit Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama, earning the MOS 31B. In July 1992, he decided to transition to the active component.
CSM Eastwood’s military and civilian education include Combat Lifesaver Course, Field Sanitation Course, Air Assault Course, Basic Leaders Course, Rappel Master Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Basic Airborne Course, Advance Leaders Course, Non-Lethal Weapons Course, Air Movement Course, Load Air Plan Electronic Course, Jumpmaster Course, Senior Customs Inspection Course, Senior Leaders Course, Digital Training Management Training Course, Physical Security Course, Combative Level 1 Course, First Sergeant Course, Pathfinder Course, Master Resilient Course, Battle Staff Course, Sergeants Major Academy Class 64, Sergeant Major Force Management Course, and the Law Enforcement Senior Leaders Course. CSM Eastwood’s has degrees in Masters of Leadership Studies from The University of Texas at El Paso, Bachelor of Arts in History from American Military University, and Associates of Arts in General Studies from American Military University.
