COL Frank J. Stanco
Deputy Commander - Support, 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss
Colonel Frank J. Stanco was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer upon graduation from Officer Candidate School as a Distinguished Honor Graduate, May 14, 1993. His previous command assignments include a separate field artillery battery and brigade headquarters battery in Kentucky, parachute field artillery battalion in Alaska, and division field artillery brigade in Kentucky. He deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan during each of his commands in 2003, 2011, and 2019.
Colonel Stanco's company-grade staff assignments include Troop Fire Support Officer in Korea, Company Fire Support Officer, Battery Executive Officer, Brigade assistant Operations Officer in North Carolina, and Battalion Fire Support Officer and assistant Battalion Operations Officer in Kentucky. He served as the assistant Joint Operations Officer for JTF-Bravo, Honduras in 1998.
Colonel Stanco's field-grade staff assignments include field artillery Battalion Operations Officer, field artillery Battalion Executive Officer and infantry Brigade Fire Support Officer in New York, and observer controller/trainer at the Joint Readiness Training Center in Louisiana, Aide de Camp for the Commanding General Forces Command in Georgia, and G-35 Chief of Operations at Training and Doctrine Command in Virginia. He served with his infantry brigade combat team in Afghanistan in 2006.
Colonel Stanco recently served in a joint assignment as Executive Assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe in Belgium, and is currently serving as the Deputy Commanding Officer - Support for the 1st Armored Division.
Colonel Stanco is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Course, the Command and General Staff Officers Course, the Joint and Combined Warfare School, served as a national security fellow in Massachusetts, and Chief of Staff of the Army Senior Fellow in Washington D.C. His Bachelor of Science degree is with a field of study in Pre-Med Biology; his Master of Science degree is in Business Administration.
Colonel Stanco's awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and the Bronze Star Medal. He is authorized to wear the Army Ranger Tab, Expert Field Medical Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
