The objective of the Physical Security Program is to safeguard U.S. Government property, facilities and personnel against loss, theft, damage, espionage or other activities which threaten life, property and continuation of military operations.

The Garrison Physical Security Section falls under the Directorate of Emergency Services. The Physical Security Section works to ensure critical assets on Fort A.P. Hill are protected and safeguarded according to Army regulation.

The Physical Security Section also oversees the Integrated Commercial Intrusion Detection System (ICIDS III). This is the DoD approved security alarm system for the installation. All alarm inquiries should be submitted to the Physical Security office.

Department of the Army (DA) Security Guards

To provide courteous and complete protection to the Soldiers, families, and civilians through professionalism, dedication and unwavering vigilance. Responsible to exercise and apply establish rules, regulations, and legal authorities to access control and egress, and detect trespassing violations in order to protect life and property and prevent theft, sabotage, fire, terrorism and accidental or willful damage and destruction to Fort A.P. Fort A.P. Hill Installation Access

North Gate is primarily for personnel with a DOD ID card or a Fort A.P. Hill Installation Access Badge.

All commercial vehicles carrying ammunition will be sent to the South Gate. Freight carriers should call the Fort A.P. Hill Police Duty Desk at (804) 633-8888, for specific delivery instructions.

NORTH GATE:

  • Open to Vehicles 24/7


   SOUTH GATE:

  • Closed.

 

Access Control Resources:
Visitors, contractors and vendors 18 years and older, entering Fort A.P. Hill, who do not have a Department of Defense identification card, will be subject to a background check before being allowed entry to the installation. Those who present a common access card, Military ID, Military Dependent ID, Gold Star ID, or other valid DoD credential won’t be affected.
All personnel (including but not limited to active duty, retired, National Guard, and reserve military and their family members; Department of Defense employees and their family members; and civilians who are not affiliated with Fort A.P. Hill) who desire to maintain, frequently use, or transport a privately owned weapon on this installation must register the weapon(s) with the Provost Marshal Office within three duty days if the weapon is to be stored on post or if the owner intends to use the MWR hunting areas or ranges.

In accordance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 and Army Regulation 190-13, all visitors and uncleared contractors desiring unescorted access to Fort A.P. Hill, must be vetted through the National Crime Information Center Interstate Identification Index.
